Islamabad: Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has reaffirmed his ownership to the international community to intervene and save the Afghans from hunger shows that it is their “moral obligation” to prevent the humanitarian disaster faced by people in Afghanistan, reporting local media.
Imran Khan once again confirmed that Pakistan will continue to provide “all possible help” to Afghans in an effort to avoid the humanitarian crisis that floated in the country, reported the Tribune Express.
Imran Khan shared a report by the BBC which quoted the Executive Director of the World Food Program (WFP) which declared 23 million Afghans towards mass hunger, reported the Tribune Express.
Citing this report, the Prime Minister said that it was a “moral obligation” of the international community to “prevent this humanitarian disaster against Afghans”, reported the newspaper.
With every day passed, the situation in Afghanistan worsened under the new Taliban regime that did not have funds to buy food and other essence goods.
The lack of severe funds and a surge in unprecedented food prices have made a number of Afghans hungry and some people are forced to sell their children to survive, according to the Forum Think Tank International Tanks based in Canada for Rights and Security (IFFRAS) .
“There are reports that 95 percent of Afghans do not have enough food to eat while half of the population is expected to face the level of acute hunger as a winter set in early November,” Iffras said.
