New Delhi: Kulbhushan Jadhav, The Indian National in Pakistani custody, will get the right to appeal against the death penalty after Pakistani Parliament issued a law in this regarding Wednesday in accordance with the decision by the International Court (ICJ).
Pakistan claimed Jadhav was involved in espionage while India argued that he was a retired naval officer who was kidnapped from Iran.
In 2017, Jadhav was sentenced to death by a military court in Pakistan.
India then approached the ICJ and secured it remained ready.
In July 2019, ICJ decided that Pakistan had to do an “effective review” of Jadhav’s beliefs and punishment and also to provide consular access to India.
Jadhav will now be able to challenge the military court’s order in the High Court in Pakistan.
