Lahore: Two Indian nationals, languishing in Pakistani jail for eight years for “illegal border crossing”, has been handed over to the security forces in the border WAGI border, a government official said on Tuesday.
The official said that in 2013, a citizen of India – Sharma and Ram Rajput Buhadar – enter Pakistani territory in the path of control (LOC) from Kashmir and arrested by the Pakistan Rangers.
Later, they apparently are mentally challenged, he said, adding that they seem to have crossed the border inadvertently.
“Their pictures and other credentials shared by India and finally after recognizing them as citizens, Rangers handed it over to the BSF on Monday,” the official said.
Cases 19 Indian nationals, was arrested by Pakistani authorities on suspicion of “intersection of the borders and illegal border” more than a year ago, is still pending with the federal review board.
Police and Rangers have arrested 19 Indians from various parts of the country based Security Act and the Law on State Secrets Service.
They have been stored in a different prison.
They were produced before the Federal Review Board consisting of Rights High Court Judges and Federal Interior Ministry to present their allegations.
Council decision extending their detention until their cases are based on the investigation report of the interior ministry about whether they should stand trial or should be released, officials said.
