Islamabad: Senior officials have notified that Pakistan can face the fifth wave of Coronavirus in winter because of the slow vaccination in this country.
“The government has achieved a vaccination target to a certain extent, millions in this country still need to be vaccinated against the Coronavirus,” said the Special Assistant to the Health Prime Minister Dr.
Faisal Sultan, Sama TV reported.
The Sultan warned that the fifth wave of Coronavirus could hit Pakistan if the vaccination rate did not increase.
In total, more than 150 million people in the country need to be vaccinated.
So far 26 percent have been fully vaccinated and 20 percent have received a single dose.
“The second dose is very important for protection against Covid,” Sultan said as quoted by Tama TV.
The number of active cases in Pakistan stands at 22,545.
A total of 28,456 deaths related to Coronavirus have been reported in the country since the pandemic began, Geo News reported
