Islamabad: The main opposition party alliance, Pakistani Democrat Movement (PDM) on Saturday held a public meeting at Chowk Regal Karachi who was busy protesting the increase in inflation under the government of Imran Khan.
Head of PDM Maulana Fazlur Rehman and the leader of Pakistan’s opposition in the National Assembly, Shehbaz Sharif also tends to overcome the rally, taose TV reported.
Hundreds of workers from the PDM, especially the Fazlur Party Rehman – the ulama-e-Islamic party, has gathered in the rally.
Karachi traffic police have closed at least five roads that lead to Regal Chowk and release traffic plans, TV reports.
This happened a few days after PDM announced to hold March ‘Mehngai’ across Pakistan before advancing with a long march to Islamabad.
PDM told me that demonstrations against the government over the increasing inflation would be held in Karachi, Quetta, Lahore and Peshawar.
In the latest developments, the Imran Khan government has announced the increase in gasoline prices by Pakistan Rs 8.03 per liter, a day after the Prime Minister also warned the nation that fuel prices must increase.
