Madurai: When Palamedu Jallikattu who was famous in Madurai began on Saturday morning, the bulleters were eager to rush to challenge the bull to tame it.
The Jallikattu program was marked around 8 am by Minister Tamil Nadu P Muhorthhy and Ptr Palanivel Thiagarajan in front of the Madurai District collector Dr S Aneesh Sekhar, after an oath was given to the participants.
This year, because of the Pandemic Covid-19, the power of the male tamer is limited and all participants must undergo a Covid-19 test.
However, despite the safety protocol of Covid-19, many were found to violate the norm by not wearing masks or maintaining social distance in the venue.
About 700 registered bulls for the event while only 300 bull tailors were permitted due to Covid-19 security restrictions.
At the end of three rounds, a total of 221 bulls were released and 90 bull tamers tried to tame the bull with only 30 permissions per permitted tamers per round.
Tamers bull enthusiastically took the bull and tame them to win prizes ranging from gold coins, bicycles, household items, clothes and others.
The best bull tamer pillows will receive special prizes at the end of the event, which includes a car.
So far, at least nine participants have been injured.
