Palestinian PM Shtayyeh looks for the role of ‘established’ India in the Middle East during meeting with PM Modi

Mohammad Shtayeh has been looking for the role of “established and honorable” New Delhi in the Middle East during his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi where two leaders also discussed ways to increase bilateral bonds and political developments in the region.
Shtayyeh met Modi on the sidelines of the COP26 summit in Glasgow in what was the first time a high-time meeting between the two parties since the last visit to Palestine in February 2018, a statement from the Palestinian Prime Minister’s office said on Wednesday.
The Palestinian Prime Minister directed Modi to the latest political developments in the region and discussed possible ways to improve and strengthen bilateral relations between Palestine and India, said the statement.
“Palestine is concerned with his relationship with India, which has weight in international politics,” said Shtayeh during the meeting.
“We are ready for all forms of cooperation with India, which serves as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2021-2022, and is re-elected to the Human Rights Council for a period of 2022-2024,” Shtayyeh told Modi.
“We are looking forward to the role of established and well-known India in the Middle East based on the historical perspective of Indian foreign policy, which is leading to support the rights of the Palestinian people for the self-determination and establishment of the independent Palestinian state, with Jerusalem as its capital,” he added.
“The role of India in international organizations, especially the UN Security Council and the Human Rights Council requires severe efforts in collaboration with all relevant parties to achieve security and stability in the Middle East and West Asia, which is very important for India,” The word Palestinian leader said.
Shtayyeh also expressed Palestinian appreciation for India’s “Indian financial and technical support” provided to the Palestinian people.
“This support must be parallel and equip each other with political support from the causes of Palestine and in a way that ensures the implementation of international legitimacy resolution,” the Palestinian Prime Minister said during the meeting.
Last year, India gave $ 2 million for the help of the UN work agency and the work bodies worked for the welfare of the Palestinian refugees in supporting core programs and services, including education and health, in the midst of the Coronavirus crisis.
Seventeen agreements have been signed under the Indian-Palestinian development partnership between the two parties between the two sides between the two sides between the two sides of the Agriculture, Health Care, Information Technology, Youth Affairs, Consular Affairs, Women Empowerment and Media in the last five years.
New Delhi is to provide assistance of around $ 72 million through this agreement in projects such as the reconstruction of the post-2014 war.
