LONDON: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas Meets Foreign Minister Canada Marc Garnau in the city of West Bank Ramallah, urged the international community to put pressure on Israel to stop attacks on Palestinians.
During the meeting on Monday, Abbas said there must be a political horizon that gave hope to the Palestinians to end the Israeli occupation and established an independent Palestinian state, the Xinhua news agency reported.
Abbas emphasizes the importance of accelerating the reconstruction process in the Gaza Strip and maintaining support for Palestine.
The President gave Garnnau’s direction of the efforts made by all those who care to stabilize the ceasefire with Israel in all Palestinian regions and continue the traffic jammed process under international resolution.
According to local media, Abbas expressed the appreciation of the Palestinian people for Canada’s support to Palestinian refugees and war against Pandemic Covid-19.
Said the Palestinian state committed to democracy and legal jurisdiction, Abbas added that as soon as Israel agreed on the dealing of Palestinian elections in East Jerusalem, he would ask them in Palestine.
For its part, Garnneau said Canada opposed Israel’s decision to expel Palestinian families from their homes in East Jerusalem and refused the expansion of Israeli settlement which violated international law.
He convinced Abbas that Canada is committed to achieving peace based on the principle of two countries and restoring stability in the region.
