Palghar: The body of a 20-year-old man was found hanging from the tree in Palghar district, after his family member demanded an investigation into his death, police said on Wednesday.
Some people on Tuesday saw Rajesh Singh’s body, daily bets and habit drinkers, depending on small trees along the river in the Naigaon area and told the police, an official said from the Naigaon Police Station.
The police then sent the body to a government hospital in Vasai for postmortem and registered an accidental case of death, the official said.
Then, the member of the family and his friends told reporters that they did not believe that he committed suicide.
They said the man was a habit drinker and owed a lot of money to several owners of liquor stores in the Naigaon area.
The family demanded that the police carry out a thorough investigation into his death.
