Palghar: The police have arrested eight people for allegedly killing the owner of a cigarette shop and injured two relatives after a dispute in Palghar Maharashtra district, an official said on Monday.
The people accused of going to the Vinodkumar Singh shop (51) in the Board area at around 11:30 a.m.
on Sunday and asked for cigarettes.
But, Singh and his other relatives at the store refused to serve them because they had retired for that day.
The defendant then left the place, but returned after some time with a weapon.
They were allegedly searched the shop and attacked Singh, his 20-year-old son and uncle, 47 years old, said officials from the Boisar Police Station.
Three injured people rushed to the hospital in Nallasopara where Singh died during treatment, he said.
The deceased is also a member of the Rickshaw Auto Union in Nallasopara.
Eight accused of being arrested and a case was listed under them under various parts of the Indian criminal code, including 302 (murder) and 307 (murder attempts), said the official.
The body was sent for postmortem, while two other victims underwent treatment at the hospital, he said.
