PALGHAR: The Ministry of Excise Maharashtra has won Indian foreign liquor (IMFL) which is worth around Rs 8 Lakh in Palghar Regency, while allegedly smuggled through the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway.
The vehicle was confiscated and his 19-year-old driver, who was identified as Vishal Dubla, was arrested by the action was taken on Thursday at a checkpoint in Dubal on Hamlet near the Talasari, said the Palghar division officials.
“Shares of 1,488 IMF bottles from various brands and beer cans are confiscated from a vehicle that will go to Mumbai.
It was found that there was no permission to sell this share in Maharashtra,” he said.
A violation was registered under the law on Maharashtra’s ban against the defendant at the Talasari police station in Palghar, he said, adding that officials tried to find out the source of liquor and to whom it was intended to be conveyed.
