Jaipur: The Rajasthan government reflects on the ‘water train’ to Pali district at the end of September because the surface of the water in the Jea Dam is only 10 feet due to rainfall deficits in this area.
Considered Lifeline of the Area, Jawai Dam supplied water to Pali District, including Pali, Sumerpur, Rani, Falna, Bali, Jaitanan, Sojat, Takhatang, Marwar Junction.
Also, hundreds of villages depend on dams for irrigation and drinking water.
Officials said water resources and the Public Health Engineering Department would send a report to the government after September 15 sought budget approval to supply drinking water by train.
If the rainfall situation does not improve on September 15, a plan to operate the ‘water train’ from September 21 which is considered.
The train will supply around 10 million liters of water per day from Jodhpur to Pali in four rounds, said Superintendent PHP Jagdish Prasad Sharma.
In 2019, water must be supplied by train in Pali when the monsoon activity in the area is below average.
Around a dozen districts in Rajasthan are dry because rainfall deficits because the southwest monsoon will enter the weak phase.
This year, the average rainfall in Rajasthan was still 8.8 percent less than on September 2, 2020.
According to the Ministry of Meteorology, around a dozen countries still in the category of rainfall deficits.
These include Banswara, Barmer, Bhilwara, Bikaner, Dungarpur, Sriganganagar, Jalore, Jhunjhunu, Jodhpur, Pali, Rajsamand and Udaipur.
District collectors have been told to make an emergency plan for drought situations or such drought.
When the rainy season is in the last spell, it is very difficult to expect it will discuss this deficit, a weather department official said.
In 2020, the average rainfall was up to September 2, 449.50 mm.
But this year, so far 409.83 mm.
Srianganganagar Regency has received 74 mm rainfall so far in this season which is very low while Baran accepts 1074.90 mm rainfall which is the highest in the state.
