Panaji: cracked in the BJP camp in the state capital widened on Thursday with two servants near Panaji Mla Stanasio Monsere which expressed their intention to join Congress.
Former Mayor Panaji Uday Madkkaikar and Tony Rodrigues met with senior party officials and office carriers and delivered their interest in returning to the folds of the party.
Madkkaikar and Rodrigues said that they wanted to compare 2022 assembly selections from Panaji and Taleiga if given a congressional ticket.
State President of President Girish Chodankar said that both would be appointed in the party in an effort to strengthen the Congress, but did not guarantee party tickets.
Chodankar said that Congress was working on a strategy for BJP Dethrone from Panaji and Taleiga for several months and the effort brought fruit.
“The two constituencies must be put together.
We are working on a strategy for a long time on how to reclaim Taleigao and Panaji.
Even though we have voters in Panaji, we are waiting for a handsome leader.
Our work took place quietly,” Chodankar said.
“We have followed Babush from one party to the next party, but before that I was constantly in Congress.
This will be my re-entry,” Madkaikar said.
Madkkaikar, who followed Panaji MLA to BJP, seemed to have a fall with Monserrate during a recent reorganization from Panaji BJP Mandal.
“Babush has begun to record Panaji and Taleiga Mandal and no my supporters or I have been accommodated in the mandal.
Indirectly, it seems that the people work hard to get Babush, who go to the door to the door to campaign, he has pushed to the side, “said Madkaikar.
Madkkkaikar has met the AICC Goa desk who is responsible for Dinesh Gundu Rao a few days before where he has conveyed his willingness to join Congress.
For Rodrigues, this won’t be the first time he parted ways with Monserrate.
In 2012, he separated from the Monserrate panel on the CCP board and supported BJP.
In 2016, he was in line with the Congress for the PKC poll against Monserrate, but was pulled out at the last minute for Monserrate.
“I came to strengthen the congress.
Many of Taleigo came to me and asked me to compete from Taleigo.
I am interested in fighting, but I did not join because I got a ticket,” Rodrigues said.
