Thiruvananthapuram: Kalliyor Grama Panchayat has started land preparation to introduce traditional rice aquaculture methods followed by the tribes of Wayanad ‘in Netti’.

Cultivation was started by Kalliyor Grama Panchayat and Krishi Bhavan as part of a carbon neutral project.

Cultivation will be executed by the Pandarakari Padasekharam Committee by utilizing employees of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
Land preparation begins on January 17 and will be completed in 25 days which include the excavation channel and other land preparation.
This agricultural method does not use all types of chemical fertilizers and wire fertilizers.
When seeds grow in medicine drugs, plants will have good immunity power, flavor, pest control and disease control capabilities.
Lake Vellayani is the only water source for three Panchayats.
Organic farming will maintain free backwaters pollution.
This scheme will also provide employment opportunities for national rural employment workers.
The budget for this scheme is around 30 lakh.
