Thiruvananthapuram: Panchayats in the district record 134 wild dog bites between 2019 and 2021 and one death, according to the latest numbers presented in assembly.
In four fiscal, 73 Panchayats in the Regency have spent RS 3.6 Crore to implement animal birth control projects (ABC) and rural local bodies have given RS 4.8 Crore to this project during this period.
Four Panchayats Kottukal, Nagaroor, Azhoor and Anchuthengu contributed 73% of the wild dog bites in this district in two years.
In Nagaroor only, 46 wild dog bite cases were reported in the district, while Anchuthengu and Azhoor reported each of 10 and 8.

Attingal Municipality which made Rs 3.98 lakh for ABC in 2016-17 reduced the allocation to Rs 1 Lakh in 2018-19.
In March 2021, a wild dog changed with violence and was bitten around 19 people in Kottukal.
The assembly record presented in January showed that 19 illegal dog bite incidents were reported in the district in the past year.
The local body must spend a 3.8 crore at one year as part of the wild dog control steps in the district.
Death due to illegal dog bites was reported in 2016 and 2017 in Pulluvila in Karumkulam Panchayat.
