Mumbai: For years, technology giants around the world have marked December 1 on their calendar to visit to IIT to pick up new graduates.
But this year, class 2021 has received less international offers: less than 200 Iitusi people throughout the country have landed foreign work.
While some older campuses have seen a large reduction in international employment opportunities, the younger IIT has seen a marginal decline.
Not only offers reduced, even compensation packages at the Indian Blue-Chip Institute have shrunk.
In IIT Bombay, international placement for graduating this year was established in 58, down from 159 years ago.
The numbers on the IIT Kanpur have divided into two.
And in Iit Delhi, they dropped from a maximum of 45-plus in 2019 (they had floated around 30 averages for the past three years), said the Institute spokesman.
In Iit Roorkee too, the offer has been reduced (see table).
IIT Gandhinagar did not have a direct international post since the pandemic began in 2020 but before the offer would devote from a Japanese and German-based organization.
IIT Madras does not share information.
The compensation package, at IIT Roorkee dropped from Rs 153.97 lakh per year to Rs 69.05 lakh per year.
In IIT-B, international annual compensation was highest in 2019 and 2020 constant at US $ 1.64 lakh.
This year, recorded at 1.57 lakh euro per year.
“Because of uncertainty due to restrictions on pandemic travel and fluctuations, this year’s international work offer is less than the last two years,” said Bithiah Grace Jaganathan, faculty coordinator, placement, IIT Guwahati.
“Placement is a challenge during a pandemic period.
Running the entire process (tests, interviews) online with students located in remote parts of the country with limited connectivity, increasing the level of difficulty.
We hope the market revives in the near future and the business returns to normal at the start of the placement season.
Next, so we can do a smooth placement process for the next set of students, “said the IITB placement officer.
Much about the challenging placement season was concluded by Iit Roorkee which appealed to the award ceremony to celebrate the contribution of students in making placement movers.
“Covid Blues made one of the most challenging tasks And demand, “said the Institute,” The Institute said.
