Pandemic produces interest in social work among students

Jaipur: Pandemic has brought the spotlight on degree programs in social work and disaster management.
Both degree programs are designed to provide the upper edge to students in handling crises, such as Covid, who get a lot of attention from students.
City-based career counselors have received questions on career prospects offered under the program.
Inam-ul-haque Khan, a career counselor, said every second graduate student came to him asking about these two programs.
“Interestingly, students show interest are those who have helped people in a Covid crisis in a certain way.
They are now looking forward to making their careers in social work,” Khan said, adding that in Rajasthan, every city has employment opportunities at The development sector prefers those who have a degree or diploma in this program.
In particular, the University of Rajasthan must close the Master’s degree in the Social Work Program in 2015 because of the election of poor students five years after being introduced.
Both of these programs are available in very few state universities while they are available in most private universities.
Rashmi Jain, Head of Department, Sociology, Ru, said that the pandemic had aroused a sense of activism even among ordinary citizens.
“I have received questions from students to add some MSW elements and disaster management in the MA sociology program to improve their work skills.
This pandemic has produced the need to have the power of professionals who can march to people from situations such as crisis,” Jain said .
“I have learned that every company now needs a team of people who have experience or degrees in social work to carry out their company’s social responsibility (CSR).
If you hope the program can be available in RU,” said Abhibav Mishra, looking for a master’s degree in MSW.
Highlighting the Importance of Courses, Ankush Singh, Communication Specialist, UNICEF Rajasthan said they had collaborated with the state government that introduced the concept of disaster risk reduction (PRB).
“The DRR concept means that disaster management must be introduced at the beginning of each project instead of introducing when the crisis hit your door,” said Singh.
He argues that globally, has professionals who deal with social work and disaster management increases even in international organizations such as the United Nations.
