Mumbai: In just three years, the number of students who aspire to pursue undergraduate pharmaceutical programs in the state have risen more than 40%.
This year, 82,573 candidates have registered for B pharm compared to 58,674 in 2019.
Education claims this course is not only a pandemic evidence in terms of work availability, but the scope has increased significantly for years.
Aniruddha Pandit, Representative of Chancellor of the Chemical Institute of Technology, Matunga, said that the pandemic was clearly one of the reasons for increasing B PHARM candidates.
“But pharmaceutical graduates also found many of the next opportunities.
Previously, they only had the choice to pursue a master or pH in the pharmacy.
Now, they can enter biotechnology, biochemistry, bioprocess technology, food biotechnology, etc.,” said Pandit.
The industry itself shifts from classical drugs for new things, such as nutraceutical and biosimilar, he said, adding that the biological scope has become more relevant in a pandemic.
