Gandhinagar: After the lost deadline was determined by the Indian government for more than four years, the Gujarat government would make it mandatory for public transport vehicles to have a panic button and the global positioning system tracker (GPS) for passenger safety.
These features will soon become mandatory for all old and new taxis, buses and other public transport vehicles.
The State House department has initiated the process of making panic buttons and mandatory GPS tracking.

All RTOS will ensure that passenger transportation vehicles The registered install panic keys and GPS tracking devices if they don’t have it.
From the cut-off date announced, the vehicle dealer must ensure vehicle delivery only after installation of panic keys and GPS tracking devices.
“” Department of the house and the Department of Transportation will develop a new control center Centrally, which will record the location of the vehicle where the panic button has been hit, “said the source about the new step.
“The government aims to enforce law to reach a place in ten minutes and if the vehicle is moving, it will be traced continuously and the local police will be asked to find it,” added the source.
Public transport vehicles such as taxis and buses must be equipped with GPS devices with effects starting April 1, 2018.
This device must be installed by manufacturers, dealers or operators.
Sources say passengers are more vulnerable in closed vehicles.
According to sources, the state transportation department is responsible for placing a system in place to track public transport vehicles.
When a passenger presses the panic button, the two transportation departments and police control rooms will be warned for quick action.
