Paralympics: Bhagat won Badminton Gold, Sarkar claimed bronze

Tokyo: The world champion ruled Pramod Bhagat on Saturday claiming a historic gold medal in the men’s Singles SL3 class while Manoj Sarkar bagged bronze when India smoke them in Tokyo Paralympics.
Bhagat beat Daniel Britain Raya Bethell at Clash Summit while Sarkar beat Japan Daisuke Fujihara in third place play-off, with both Indians who won in direct match.
In the SL3 classification, athletes with lower limb disorders are permitted to compete.

He won a gold medal at SL3 Singles at the 2016 Asian Championship in Beijing.
In 2018, he received the Arjuna award and a year later, he was named the Sportsman of the Year at the Sportstar Aces Awards.
Previously on that day, Suhas Yathiraj and Krishna Nagar also sailed to the SL4 men’s singles final and SH6 class.
