New Delhi: Tokyo Paralympics Bronze Medal Medal Sharad Kumar Jumper has been diagnosed with heart inflammation and has experienced several more tests, reports that are still awaited.
Kumar, who won bronze at the T-42 high jump in Tokyo Paralympics on August 31, was treated at the Institute of Indian Medical Sciences (AIIMS) after experiencing a chest congestion last week.
“Previous reports showed that I had inflammation in my heart,” Kumar told PTI on Thursday.
The 29-year-old patna-born athlete, who lives in Chhatarpur, was dismissed from the medical facility earlier this week but had to return to several more tests.
“I have returned here for further tests.
Because I live only 10 minutes, I have asked the hospital authority to allow me to go home,” he added.
Kumar, whose left leg was paralyzed after he was given a fake polio vaccine as a toddler, competing in the T-42 final in Tokyo last month despite a knee injury while practicing before practicing.
He then revealed he was on the threshold pulling out of the competition.
Kumar has surged 1.83 m to win bronze.
He is the Champion of Jump Asia Asia (2014 and 2018) and also the world silver medalist (2019).
The classification of the T-42 is for athletes with leg deficiency, the difference in the length of the foot, muscle pressure is disturbed or disruption of various passive movements in the legs.
Athletes compete in a standing position.
