Paralyzed three years ago, Sonam Malik aimed at the Olympics

Wrestler, 19, will compete in the 62kg category in Tokyonew Delhi: Late in 2017, it seems like he will never be able to drink again.
A massage related to the nerves on his right shoulder, which also affected his right arm, leaving Grappler Young Sonam Malik paralyzed on his right side.
His world came crashing.
After all, he was fresh from gold who won the cadet championship world in Athens, Greece.
Cut to serve …
Sonam, 19, has booked his bed for the Tokyo Olympics who will come in the 62kg category and are playing for glory at the showpiece.
After suffering paralysis, Sonam did not act for six months.
“He could not hold his arm.
He could not hold anything with any strength.
The diagnosis was that the nerves on his shoulder did not transmit impulses to his arm.
The doctor told him to forget wrestling and think of how he would live from there and so on,” said Ajmer Malik, coach Sonam, told TII.
Sonam, who came from Madina Village in the Sonipat District Haryana, has sharpened its skills under Ajmer in the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Sports Complex in Madina since 2014.
“The doctor said if it was in Sonam’s destiny, he would recover,” added.
Destiny ruled in Sonam’s help and he recovered.
His father, Rajender Malik, who himself is the wrestler during his youth and currently works as a delivery of men at a sugar factory in Madina, plays a big role in his recovery.
“Because my limited income, I was unable to take care of him by a well-known doctor in a big city.
We use the Desi (Ayurvedic) method to cure it.
I think God wants Sonam to be on the mat again, that’s why he recovered in just six months,” Rajender recalled.
His treatment continued for a year.
In 2018, Sonam returned to the mattress and won a bronze medal in the Championship of the Asian cadet and the World Cadet Championship.
In 2019, he won the world’s cadet gold.
He graduated to the senior level, after that.
Immediately he began to make the waves and hit the headlines in the early 2020 after defeating Rio Olympics Bronze Mealist Sakshi Malik at the national trial at Lucknow.
From there and so on, Sonam has gotten better than Sakshi three more times.
Earlier this year in April, Sonam became the youngest female wrestler to qualify for the Olympics by reaching the 62kg final in the Asian Olympic qualification in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
“He (Sonam) is very fast on the mat.
He is very flexible and the most important quality he has is that he can lift the opposition on his shoulder easily and throw it up the mat,” said Ajmer when asked what made him Sonam stand out.
“The good thing about Sonam is that he rarely takes any pressure,” said Kuldeep Malik, the head of the national female coach, felt.
At the Olympics, Sonam will take to the mat in August.
“I know there is a lot of competition in my category.
I know I’m not one of the favorites to win, but on my day I can beat the best.
If someone takes me lightly, it will be on their own danger,” said Sonam with confidence , “I have studied video recordings from my competition and have made my plan accordingly.” In the Sonam category, a favorite to win gold is Aisuluu Tynybekova from Kazakhstan.
Another competitor is: Yusein Taybe Mustafa from Bulgaria, Yulia Ostapchuk of Ukraine, Yukako Kawai from Japan and Kayla Kiyoko from the United States.
