New Delhi: Former Police Commissioner Mumbai Param Bir Singh on Monday told the Supreme Court that he was in India and did not run away.
“I was very much in the country but hid when I faced a threat to my life,” Param Bir Singh told The Apex Court through his lawyer.
“I am ready to appear in front of the CBI within 48 hours.
If I am wrong, then take me to the task,” said the former Mumbai police chief to SC.
SC bench headed by Justice S Kaul has requested his lawyer to inform the court about Singh’s existence.
SC also provided protection from the arrest to Param Bir Singh and asked him to join an investigation.
The court has agreed to hear Singh’s request and issued a notification to the government of Maharashtra and CBI.
The next hearing has been scheduled for December 6.
The court expressed concern over the ongoing steps between former Minister of Maharashtra Anil Deshmukh and Param Bir Singh and said, “We found a very disturbing picture.” Also said that this problem became “curious and curious.” The judge court in Bombay on Wednesday declared Singh, “proclaimed the perpetrator” in a case of extortion that enrolled against him and several other police officers in the city.
Singh last attended his office in May this year after that he went on leave.
The State Police told the Bombay High Court last month that his existence was unknown.
Mumbai Police Crime Branch, who investigated extortion cases, has been seeking proclamation against him, by saying that IPS officers cannot be traced even after the issuance of an unstrangeable warrant.
Under Section 82 of the criminal code procedure, the court can publish the demanding proclamation accused if the warrant issued to it cannot be executed.
In accordance with section 83, after issuing a proclamation like that court can also order the attachment of the perpetrators.
Former Assistant Police Inspector Waze Sachin was also accused of in this case, registered at the Goregaon police station.
