Parents of high school victims help patients, donate ambulances

Udupi: Following the death of Mithansh S Devadiga who was five months old, who was diagnosed with Type-1 High School, his parents had decided to donate the money they received through crowdfunding to treat their children, for their social causes.
Mithansh, Sandeep D and Ranjitha’s son of Belman in Udupi, was diagnosed with Type-1 High School from birth, in a test conducted by the Ministry of Medical Genetics, KMC, Manipal, on July 12.

Sweta Shanhag, a child doctor’s consultant at Koosamma Shambhu Shetty Matorial Hajj mother and child child, has certified that Mithansh is required to be treated with Zolgensma, the only treatment for high school, which costs around Rs 16-18 Crore.
Parents raise crowdfunding online requests to meet their son’s care costs, and collect almost Rs 40 Lakh.
Although the family spent several lakhs for early care, Mithansh died on July 29.
Financial assistance for patients following the death of Mithansh, his parents decided to use the amount of balance to contribute ambulances to Social Workers Eshwar Malpe, which served the poor in Udupi, and also helped 16 patients suffer from cancer and other diseases through Sathyada Tuluver, an organization in Udupi and Mangaluru.
Praveen Kurkalu, founder, Sathyada Tuluver, told TII that organizations would facilitate distribution programs on Sundays.
“Parents have spent several lakh rupees for the diagnosis and initial care of children.
Because the child is no longer, they have decided to use the remaining funds collected through crowdfunding for social causes.
Donations, including ambulances, will cost around Rs 14 Lakh.
From 16 beneficiaries that we choose, three are children who suffer from different diseases.
Meanwhile, financial assistance will be given to cancer patients, two patients suffer burns, one suffer from kidney disease and several others owe due to prolonged care received by They.
In fact, we have received 50 applications and chooses those who really need financial assistance, “Praveen said.
