Bokaro: Many parents at Bokaro on Wednesday coordinated an agitation on interpersonal networking to oppose the increase in fees suggested by some private colleges. Organised from the Jharkhand Parents Association on Zoom, the protesters were observed setting up placards while others place up statuses to their various social networking profiles, even denouncing the colleges for raising the tuition fees. The president of Jharkhand Parents’ Association, Ajay Rai, stated that despite the requests against the state authorities, the private colleges are charging an inordinate quantity of penalties by raising it under different heads. Apart from lessening the tuition charges, the pupils can also be demanding that private colleges employ the Jharkhand Education Amendment Act, 2017, cease re-admission out of Class XI students , upload the CBSE guidelines on their website, not deprive the pupils of online courses for non of penalties. The president of Jharkhand Parents Association’s Bokaro unit, Mahender Rai, stated,”The universities shouldn’t bill any extra cash in the students of Class XI. Many colleges are charging re-admission prices from Class XI students amid the pandemic by which the majority of the parents have been facing financial difficulties because of job reduction.” He added the according to the Supreme Court, a 20% decrease in fees needs to be executed immediately by the colleges. “Lately the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) requested the Jharkhand government to take proper actions against 10 private colleges in Bokaro for raising the charges by around 20 percent in this Covid-19 pandemic,” he explained. Based on an advisory issued with an NCPCR on April 4 final year, private colleges cannot raise their prices underneath the pandemic.
