Parents protest as housing schools change covid care centers

Mysuru: The parents of children in a housing school have opposed the campus which is converted into a co-19 care center, fearing their children’s education will be hampered more in the coming months.
The city of Srinivasa Poojary, the Minister of Social Welfare and the Welfare of the Backward class, has said that all district administration is advised to open such a treatment center in housing schools only as the last choice.
“We have advised the district government to explore all other options before closing the housing school to open the CCC.
If there is no alternative, our school will be used because Covid-19 is a big crisis and now the country witnesses a large number of cases,” he said.
However, in the Taluk, a housing school run by such government institutions as an Ekalavya School, Kittur Rani Chennamma School, Morarji Desai Housing School is now being converted into a Covid Care Center.
This decision has not found acceptance among parents who want district administration to find alternatives.
Many of the government-managed housing schools have children from disadvantaged partners who cannot afford online.
This is another reason why parents are worried.
The last week, the parents of Morarji Desai housing school students from Nanjangus protested school conversion into a covid center.
Parents say that the PUC SSLC and II exams are on the corner and in such a scenario if housing school is used as CCCS, it will create problems for their children.
Similar protests are now reported from Madikeri and other parts of the country too.
“In all the net, the school residential school backwards, SC, ST students are converted as CCC.
This causes problems for children.
Rural students are not used to online classes.
The government should not change housing schools to cccs,” said KS Shivaramu activist.
