Even though he recovered at home with several basic medicines, the taste and smell of Rishi barely returned.
Gradually, things with a good aroma began to smell bad for him.
The same thing happens with taste.
“For almost a month, I have no taste.
Now, even if I bite spicy food or sweets, it feels like dirt for me.
I can’t eat,” Rishi said.

The doctor told TOI that Parosmia was a potential symptom of Haul Covid-19.
It is believed to originate from the damage that occurs in the network involved in the smell during the SARS-COV-2 infection.
“Parosmia can go as time,” said Dr (Major) Vaibhav Chandankhede, head and neck of the surgeon, IGGMCH.
“We have seen several cases of parosmia followed by Covid-19 in recent months.
It takes time to recover.
Sometimes, it can stay for months together,” he said.
According to him, the technique called Bau Training can be used to treat parosmia because of Covid-19.
“We call it an olfactory training.
This involves sniffing a group of the same aroma for 20 seconds at once.
This is usually done at least twice a day for 3 months or more,” said Dr.
Chandankhede.
Making various lifestyle changes can also help patients recover.
This involves avoiding certain aromas that can trigger parosmic such as meat, onions, eggs.
Neurosurgeon Dr.
Ninad Shrikhande said parosmic cases had increased after the second wave of Covid-19.
“This is rare, but we have received an increase in the number of patients in the past six months.
We do not have drugs targeted on it.
The general nerve reconstruction drug is prescribed.
But, in the end, patients recover only with time,” Dr.
Shrikhande said.
He shared a case where a woman suffered from Parosmia for the past year and still hadn’t recovered.
