THANE: A portion of a vacant 30-year-old construction in Wagle Estate region of Thane appeared in early Friday, though nobody was hurt from the episode because it had been sealed with the police, civic officials stated.
However, as a preventative step, citizens of six nearby buildings were shifted to a college, leader of Regional Disaster Management Mobile of Thane civic body, Santosh Kadam stated.
“The incident happened about 5.30am on Friday.
Some part of the first floor at the ground-plus-four storied Shiv Bhuvan construction in D’souza Wadi failed.
As it was tagged as a dangerous structure, it was sealed and no one dwelt inside,” he explained.
“But civic police vacated six adjacent buildings and their inhabitants were changed to a neighborhood college,” Kadam explained, adding the fire brigade and the RDMC employees are engaged in the job of clearing debris.
Another official stated that the 24 apartments in the building was vacated past year because its state had turned off.
