Pimpri Chinchwad: The main streets at Pimple Gurav and the merchant acne area at the Civic Pimpri Chinchwad limit are waiting for a modern road under the Smart City mission project even after the deadline for the work ended last month.
Residents living in these areas have complained that the road that is incomplete and digging has made a difficult trip regardless of pose threats to their safety.
However, the misery of the population could not end as soon as the time limit was extended until the end of December, said a Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) official.
Kunal Londhe, a resident of Pimple Gurav, said that the concrete road has been going on for months.
It becomes very difficult to travel during the rainy season, with one closed path for traffic and even public transport bus plying on one lane, he said.
Activists Raju Sawale said, “The lack of coordination between the Civic Agency’s internal department has resulted in residents of Pimple Gurav, Sangvi Old and New and commuters who travel to other parts of Pimpri Chinchwad face discomfort.
Almost all the main roads are being expleted or excavated.” He added That often digging the way to produce power failure due to damage to underground cables in the area, which influences the people who work from home.
Ashok Bhalkar, Joint City Engineer, PCMC, told TII, “The work was affected because of the lack of workers because of the pandemic, but we were working on a full swing now.
The revised deadline for completing road repair work 22-km in Pimple Gurav and Pimple merchant has been Extended until the end of December.
Our budget for work is around RS320 Crore, which has been spent by the RS100 Crore so far.
“Commissioner PCMC Rajesh Patil said that he had issued a warning to officials after often complaining about poor road conditions.
“I have told the officials concerned from the Ministry of Civil, Electricity and water supply to start road excavation jobs after coordinating with each other.
If they fail to do it, we will start actions against them,” he said.
