Bengaluru: Karnataka landed the gift of surprise on Wednesday as PM Narendra Modi was appointed four ministers from the state, ending tensions throughout the month focused on one or two choices for the center.
Rajya Member Sabha Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje, Chitradurga MP A Narayanaswamy and Bidar MP Bhagwant Khuba took an oath as the Minister of State at a simple ceremony in Delhi.
With this, the Karnataka section in the Union Cabinet has risen to sixth, including the Pralhad Joshi Parliament Minister and Minister of Finance Nirmala Sitharaman, who is a member of Rajya Sabha from the country.
Like DV Sadandada Gowda, the Karandlaje belongs to the Vokkaliga community that has a politically influence in South Carnataka.
Induction Khuba was seen as a step to ensure a representation of linglayat in the cabinet after Suresh Angadi’s death, which was the State Minister for the train until last September when he died of Covid-19.
Induction Narayanaswamy is seen as part of the party’s strategy to further consolidate “Dalit Left Vote Base”.

This is the second time Gowda has been dropped from the Ministry of Modes.
The first was in 2016 after two years.
In addition to chemicals and fertilizers, Gowda, representing the northern constituency of Bengaluru, has also held a portfolio such as train, law, statistics, and program implementation.
He has taken over the ministry in November 2018 after the death of former Minister Ananth Kumar.

“This is a well-thought out choice with the eye on polls 2023.
By choosing one or two members of parliament from the elderly who has won more than three times, PM has made it clear,” said BJP Privy official for the development of the Cabinet Rejig.
