Kolkata: The Delegation of the Trinamool Congress led by the Partha Party Secretary General Chattha Chatterjee met with the Bengal Aariz Aftab election officer on Friday, reaffirming the request with seven assembly chairs.
Chatterjee, who is the Minister of Affairs of the State Parliament, said three months had passed since the results of the polls and members of the Trinamool parliament had fulfilled the election commission on this issue in mid-July, but there was still no indication when Bypolls could be held.

He said EC had conducted an eight-phase assembly poll when Covid Bengal’s front level was at a height of 33%.

Delegation included the Panchayat Minister Subrata Mukherjee, MOS (Health) Chandrima Bhattacharya, Minister of Social Welfare Sashi Panja and Disaster Minister Disaster Minister Javed Ahmed Khan.
Chatterjee stated that even though the CEO had hinted that the voting process had begun, the EC seemed reluctant to hold the Bypolls.
He claimed the effort “from a few quarters” to delay Bypolls and blame the opposition leader too.
He told those who talked about protecting democracy now reluctant to allow polling and EC may not let it happen.
In mid-July, the Aftab office had directed the district election officers to conduct the first round of inspecting the EVMS and VVPat machines.
The process began in 24 North and South Pargana, South Kolkata, Cooch Behar and Nadia.
However, polls were not held in Jangipur and Samserganj Murshidabad at the last moment because two candidates died.
Now, EVMS at Murshidabad needs to be examined, an official said.
By-election maturity in Bhowanipore, from where cm Mamata Banerjee needs to win on November 5 before the six-month deadline.
The chair was contested and won by the Minister of Agriculture Sovandeb Chattopadhyay who resigned to facilitate the re-election of Banerjee.
Minister of Junior Nisith Pramanik and Jagannath Sarkar gave up each constituency of Dinhata and Shantipur Assembly, to remain a member of parliament.
Therefore, the poll also matured in these two seats.
Gosaba Mla Jayanta Naskar died after winning his holder while Khardah Mla Kajal Sinha died before the results of the poll came out.
