Passengers brave rain, hot because the UKKadam bus terminal has no seats, shelter facilities

Coimbatore: Ukkadam bus terminal does not have enough seating facilities and place to stay, forcing passengers to stand, sometimes for hours, challenging heat and rain.
Buses to various parts of the city and rural areas, Udumalpet, Dindigul, Kothagiri and Vilathikulam in the Tuticorin district and various places in Theni Regency are operated from the terminal, which records thousands of footsteps every day.
However, the facilities are very inadequate.
Bus-representing buses allow passengers to climb them only at the entry point of the terminal, where there is no shelter.
A shopkeeper said, “On bright days, passengers can be seen waiting in the shade of the nearest trees.
However, when it rains, they don’t have a place to avoid the same thing.
They must take refuge on the closest number four platform or shop .
“P Kayalvizhi, a passenger from tulur, said only limited seating options were available on the number four platform.
“Most passengers must stand for a long time.
And the water stagnates in front of him every time it rains, adds to passenger misery.” V Shanmugam, other regular passengers, said the terminal was also not clean.
“In the absence of garbage, people throw garbage in place And the bus terminal is very common.
When contacted, a city corporate official said all problems would be handled soon.
