Chennai: A few minutes after a man was hit by a car at GST Road in Tambaram early on Wednesday, another person walked not to stop to help the victim lay in a pool of blood but steal his bag.
The police said they hoped to arrest the man with the help of CCTV camera footage, which showed him walking away with an accident victim bag before other people could see.
They suspected he was local because he was wearing Veshti and walking at the clock.
Arjun’s accident victim, who died in place, was a resident of Acharakkam near Tambaram.
He walked home from the office in a private company when he was broken down by car around 2:40 a.m.
In the information, the traffic investigation police arrived and sent the body to Chromepet GH for post mortem checks.
The police arrested the driver, Jayakumar Perungalalathur, who had taken his friend’s new car to spin.
When the police scan the recording of the CCTV camera from the accident they noticed someone walking away with the victim’s bag, “he looked as a pedestrian.
Before other people could find victims of the accident, he coldly walked away with a bag.
With the help of CCTV recording, the victim will soon be arrested , “said an investigative officer.
Locals said the police had to take steps to check speed up by motorists.
Only last week, five young men have been killed at GST Road near Tambaram when their car crashed into a truck parked on the side of the road.
