PATIALA: A large number of employees in the general category held a protest meeting at the Pspcl Head Office and Punjabi University here on Tuesday against a statement by the chairman of the Ministry of Independence that the government is committed to applying 85th amendments in the Indian constitution which provides consequences for promoting Candidates SC / ST in the state.
PSPCL employees were led by Kuljeet Singh and they were at Punjabi University by Jagdish Singh.
A spokesman said that if the 85th amendment was implemented all the top posts in all departments and companies going to SC / SC employees and employees with the general category must forget their promotional opportunities.
Spokesman for the PSPCL V K Gupta association said that in 2018, direct recruitment 2,72,311 employees were made and exited from 66,224 employees of SC / SC were recruited against quota and 19,758 in achievements.
Thus, the total recruitment of SC / SC employees exceeds 25% of total posts.
