Patna: The State Election Commission (SEC) on Wednesday told the date of Deputy Mayor Patna, which will be held on September 16.
SEC has asked Patna District Judge – Cum-district election officers to tell all the environment.
The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) Board concerning the latest election date on September 8.
According to the notification issued, the new Deputy Mayor will be given an oath by competent authority on the election day itself after the announcement of the results.
A copy of the notification is also sent to the SSP, Patna for the maintenance of law and order during the election.
The post fell emptiness after the former Deputy Mayor of Meera Kumari lost the floor test on July 30 because 38 board members chose to support the movement after 29 female members of the female board moved the movement not to confidently.
In accordance with the provisions of Bihar Municipal Act 2007, Deputy Mayor will be selected within 30 days after posting empty.
“The whole process of selecting the Deputy Mayor will be recorded by marking the right time and date.
The copy of the videograph will be available for seconds within two days,” said the part of the notification.
The SEC also directed the officials concerned to ensure that the Covid-19 protocol was followed during the election.
According to sources at the Civic Agency, candidates for the Mayor’s deputy post need 38 votes to win the election.
There are 74 councils in PMC.
Indradeep Chandravanshi, member of the council number 48, said three members of the council had been selected to nominate the position of deputy mayor and all of them were members of the permanent committee empowered.
“The final name will be announced a day before the election after consultation with Patna Major Sita Sahu.
All our candidates are chosen competent to hold this post.
We are just waiting to see the opponent’s candidate before finishing our candidates to post,” he told this newspaper.
“We need representatives of mayors who can work in coordination with the mayor and advance all ongoing development work,” he added.
Meanwhile, the former Deputy Mayor of Vinay Kumar Pappu said the Mayor of Sahu must immediately notify all the members of the council he chose as a candidate for the Mayor’s deputy post.
“I want to see how he works with the new Deputy Mayor in doing all the construction work which failed to be delivered,” he said.
