Patna: The police on Thursday claimed to have damaged the gang involved in extortion from a sand-loaded truck operator disguised as a police officer in the rural Patna.
Acting on the tip-off, a team carried out an attack at Parsa Road under the Bihta police station area and took one Suraj Kumar aka Bihola in detention.
Paharpur residents allegedly extorted money from truck drivers.
During interrogation, Bhola revealed that the gang, which has 10-12 members, will wear a police uniform to avoid truck drivers.
He also revealed that some of them saved tabs on the movement of patrol vehicles.
When he saw a police officer, they would hide in the nearest buildings.
Bhola told the police the names of his colleagues, who managed to escape from the place.
“We have a list of all gang members.
They will be arrested soon,” Police said at the Bihta Police Station, added that gang members operated with such accuracy that the police did not have a hunch of their movements.
Bhola’s arrest was considered a big achievement for the police because they had received complaints about the gang.
Humans were held with RS 39L: Patna SSP, Upendra Kumar Sharma, told reporters on Thursday that one Ravi Bhaskar was arrested and Rs 39.80 lakh recovered from his ownership during the attack under the Kadamkuan Police Station area in Patna.
The money seized was part of the RS 57.49 lakh allegedly looted from the office of the exhibition of a private company based on West Bengal on September 1.
Ravi, declared a company employee, is the mastermind of the incident.
“Raids are being carried out to catch the other accused,” SSP said.
