Patna: The Division of the Patna High Court Division consisting of Justice Chief Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice S Kumar has expressed concern for the Ganges River’s obstruction along Patna because of the construction of the Ganges, and directed the registry to register a public LITIGIGIGIGIGI (PIL) in this matter.
The court has appointed former Advocate General and Senior Advocate P K Kahi as Amicus Curiae (court friend) in this matter.
While hearing a collection of piles about the construction and widening of the National Highway (NH) in the state, the division bench on Friday asked Amicus Curiae to form a lawyer team because it had detailed site inspections of the Ganges Line project.
It also directs the state road construction department to provide all the assistance needed to the team.
The inspection team must take detail the assessment of the ecological impact of the entrance project, thus ensuring that the free flow of the Ganges is not disturbed in the river floodland.
A team of two advocates consisting of Vikas Kumar and Mukesh Kumar have been formed for the purpose of location inspection.
The team must submit the report during the next hearing in the case on January 17.
Patna district administration and suggestions must provide a detailed explanation to the court about the authenticity of news reports on land reclamation.
