Patna: The Patna High Court on Wednesday attracted the State Police and Excise Department for “Law Enforcement of Liques”.
The court also observed that they seemed to work “in Convance with liquor smugglers in Bihar”.
While hearing the petition seeking anticipatory guarantee, the single bench of Justice Sandeep Kumar directed the registration of excise-cum-Ig from the country to give Cogent replies about how many suppliers and liquor traders have been captured so far and what stage of prosecution of the “liquor mafia”.
Anticipatory assurance applications submitted in the name of one gangaram, in connection with the case submitted with the Matihani Police Station in the district of Begusarai on February 19 2020, based on Part 120B IPC and Section 30A, 32 Bihar and Excise Prohibition Laws, 2016, was opposed by the Public Prosecutor Addition (Application) Jharkhandi Upadhyay.
This will be heard next on January 27.
The court revealed the sadness of the police inability to control the stockists and suppliers of illegal liquor and destroy their supply chains in the state.
