Patna: Eleven people killed while six injured in various parts of Bihar after being beaten by lightning on Tuesday, the disaster management department said.
According to the department, West Chamberan Regency and the East Champaran contributed three deaths each followed by Patna (two) and Nalanda, Madhepura and Aurangabad (one).
In addition, four people were seriously injured in the East Champaran and the other two in Patna District.
According to the department, the state has received 339 mm rainfall since the emergence of the rainy season, which is 139% above normal.
It has caused flooding at least four North Bihar regencies of West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj and suggestions where nearly 80,000 people in 65 villages have been affected.
There was no loss of life reported from the flood-hit areas so far but 10,916 people were saved from Meonon places.
Four teams NDRF and three SDRF have been pressed into services for rescue operations.
Overall 98 ships have been praised for this purpose.
