Patna: The government and private hospitals in the city continue to witness the increase in dengue fever and virus fever.
The Outpatient Department (OPDS) of all major hospitals has witnessed a sudden surge in the registration of the patient.
Patna Civil Surgeon Dr.
Vibha Kumari Singh said 33 cases of dengue fever had been recorded in the district since July this year, including 10 in the last seven days.
Dr.
Singh said cases of dengue fever were reported to be largely from areas such as Kankarbagh, BankiPore, Nayatola, Danapur and Phulwarisharif.
“Fogging is being carried out in these areas, especially at a radius of 500m from the patient’s home.
Virus fever cases also increase.
All hospitals are asked to send patient daily data to the Ministry of Health,” Dr.
Singh said.
A civil surgeon said one case of each Chikungunya, Malaria and Japanese Enfallitis (JE) had also been reported in the district.
“The only case in Patna was recorded at Locality Pandarak on September 10.
The problem of malaria and chikungunya was recorded in July and August.
Fortunately, there has been no death because of dengue fever or other vector default diseases in the district so far,” he added.
Dr.
Chandra Mohan Kumar, the additional professor of the Pediatric Department in Aiims-Patna, said two dengue fever patients and three acute encephalitis syndromes (AES) were undergoing hospital treatment.
“We usually prescribe medicines in OPD for virus fever patients.
At least 40 patients visit the OPD hospital per day with complaints of fever, cold, dysentery, skin rash and body pain,” he said.
Dr.
Manoj Kumar Choudhary, assistant professor, Ministry of Public Medicine, Igims-Patna, said there were three dengue patients in the hospital.
“Of the total patients who reach the OPD of the Ministry of Public Medicine, 50% are those who suffer from viral fever and seasonal flu.
The most common symptoms are fever, coughing, loss of appetite, nausea, body pain, headaches and abdominal pain,” he said.
Dr.
Manoj Sinha, medical supervisor at the New Gardiner Road Hospital, said the three-four virus fever patients visited the OPD Hospital per day on average.
“Most patients are children under the age of 15.
They complain of high fever, cold and upper respiratory tract,” he said.
Regional Director (East) of a private hospital in Bailey Road, Dr.
Talat Halim, said the 10 virus fever and influenza patients had so far been accepted at the facility.
“One of the patients, in the ICU, has been diagnosed with influenza B.
Three of swine flu patients were recently dismissed from hospital after recovery,” he said.
