Patna: Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is likely to start funding corridors I (Danapur to Khemnichak through Meetethapur) and Corridor II (Patna Junction to ISBT via Gandhi Maidan) Construction work Patna Metro Rail Corporation Limited (PMRC) with the next month.
PMRC and JICA have several meetings in November in the acquisition of land for the ISBT Patna Metro Rail Depot and other metro stations.
A PMRC official said the JICA delegation believes that obstacles in land acquisition have been cleaned.
“The company can submit a final report and issue a statement to provide a loan RS8.019.4 Crore after the next meeting this month.
As soon as we get funds, the construction of the Metro station and the network will begin,” the official said.
The central government team led by Durga Shanker Mishra, Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (Mohua), visited Patna on Friday and did not experience delays in financial support to the Metro Patna project.
So far, the central government has given RS424 crore for the project.
The estimated cost of the Metro Patna project is RS13.365.77 Crore (not including land acquisition costs to be borne by the State Government).
The state and the center each will bear 20% of the costs and the remaining 60% will be taken as a loan from JICA.
Patna DM Chandrashekhar Singh has directed the district land acquisition officer to hear claims and objections of landowners in Ranipur and Pahadiya in Ramaya Bairiya and resolve this problem on December 23.
The state government has provided sanctions for land acquisition.
Speaking of the status of priority corridors between Malahi Pakri and ISBT, sources in the Urban and Housing Development Department (UDHD) said that around 274 pile of work was thrown while 14 pole closes were created.

A PMRC official said the country had signed the MoU with JICA for the construction of both corridors.
