PATNA: Two youths were killed while they were allegedly racing their costly sports bikes on four-lane road near Bhikhua under Fatuha police station area of rural Patna on Sunday morning.
Fatuha police station SHO Manoj Kumar Singh said that the deceased youths were identified as Ayush Saurabh (20) and Sanskar (19).
He said both were residents of Mithapur locality under Jakkanpur police station area.
SHO Singh said that altogether six youths including the duo had reached the four-lane road on three bikes at around 8am.
“All of them were friends.
After approaching on the highway, they got involved in a bike race with each other,” he said.
SHO said that Sanskar was riding one of the bikes and Ayush was sitting behind him.
“Sanskar lost control on the sports bike due to high speed and collided with the divider.
Both of them died on the spot due to severe head injury.
Their heads had impacted directly on the cemented part of the divider,” he said.
SHO Singh said that such was the impact that the helmet which Sanskar was wearing had got completely shattered.
He said that the bike also belonged to Sanskar.
“Ayush was not wearing any helmet.
His father is a block panchayati raj officer,” Singh said.
He said that both bodies were sent for post-mortem at NMCH after which they would be handed over to concerned family members.
SHO said that police are trying to ascertain if the youths possessed valid driving licenses or not.
SHO said that all the youths had left home after lying to parents that they were going to a waterpark in Fatuha which is already closed for lockdown and got involved in bike racing.
Singh said that deceased youths’ one of the friends who was at the spot has recorded his statement till now before police in connection with the incident on the basis of which further investigation would be carried on.
