Madurai: To simplify payment of fine for traffic violations through the E-Challan system, Madurai City Police have included digital wallets and internet banking payment methods.
Apart from this, anyone can complete a delayed fine of previous cases that are ordered anywhere in the state using this payment method.
Police Commissioner Prem City Anand Sinha said that the proposal was made after analyzing that the realization of a much lower fine considering the number of cases ordered.
“We found that only about 40% fines were collected through the e-Challan system with payments through cards or electronic service centers.
Like digital wallet and internet banking available in the public, it would be easier for people to pay a fine if the payment method This is available, “he said.
Previously, through the e-Challan system, a fine payment could only be done on a place on the e-Challan engine using a debit or credit card or in the government electronic service center.
“We cannot force them to pay.
Most violators of traffic rules say that they do not have a credit or debit card with them or they have a low balance.
They also do not want to pay through electronic services,” said a traffic police officer .
In service centers, commissions must be paid which makes it burden them.
Since last week, the city traffic police gradually began receiving payments through various digital wallets such as Google Pay, Phoneepe, Paytm and Internet Banking from traffic violators.
“In addition, through the e-Challan engine, we can attract a large number of previous cases ordered in any district in Tamil Nadu and violators can make payments for it quickly without difficulty,” Sinha said.
The Commissioner also added that efforts were made to create more awareness among the community the availability of this new payment capital through social media and also by attaching posters / stickers in the traffic police booth.
