Pb: 80% of breakthrough infections caused by delta

Chandigarh: About 80% of the breakthrough of the infection detected in Punjab has been caused by a very contagious delta (B.1.6172), Covid-19 variant which is able to avoid the immune response of the vaccine induced.
Of the approximate 80 cases of breakthrough infections, which were reported by patients who had contracted Covid-19 infection again after partial or fully vaccinated, 64 had been caused by the delta lineage from the virus.
Most cases are mild, and no deaths are reported in breakthrough infections in the state.
Sequencing genomes and other studies were carried out until mid-October showed no signs of a virus mutation or having a new variant emerged.
And while infection and even breakthrough infections may occur, they will most likely be mild and some cases and far between them.
The trend in Punjab shines with research conducted by the Indian Medical Research Council, where Delta was found behind 86% of breakthrough infections, referred to the needs of people to continue to follow the appropriate Covid behavior even after getting stabbing.
Covid vaccines have proven safe and effective.
However, they do not provide full protection to everyone, leaving individuals with low immunity vulnerable to infection.
Punjab has become one of the worst countries by pandemics and contributed nearly 3.5% of the total variant of the concern detected in the country.
Nearly 2,400 punjab samples examined at the Indian SARS-COV-2 Genomics Consortium (Insacog) has been tested positively for various variants.
Of the total, around 1,100 samples are Delta variants which are around 43% of the total variants of concerns found in the state.
When the pandemic situation subsided, there was no new mutation from the virus that had been reported in the punjab sample, a lot with the help of health experts.
The last mutation recorded in the country is the Delta Plus (v AY.1) variant.
Highlighting the importance of the appropriate Covid behavior, Punjab Covid-19 Nodal Officer Dr.
Rajesh Bhaskar said that people must loudly follow safety norms even after being immunized.
“Vaccination and compliance with safety norms are the only way to keep yourself protected from a deadly virus,” his advice.
To increase the cover of vaccination, the Punjab government presses its employees to get themselves vaccinated.
The instructions have been passed by the government, ask employees to be vaccinated.
If every government employee fails to be vaccinated for any reason in addition to medical, disciplinary action can begin with them.
This problem was also taken at a review meeting chaired by the minister’s chairman.
Deputy Minister of Punjab O P Soni said they wanted everyone to get vaccinations and government employees were asked to be the earliest inoculated.
