Chandigarh: The Bharatiya Janata Party-Punjab Lok Congress-Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt) will release the first list of candidates for February 20 assembly polls on Friday.
Secretary General of Punjab BJP Subhash Sharma confirmed as much, said: “We will announce the first list of 40 candidates tomorrow.” He added that three alliance partners would release their first list of candidates separately during the day.
The candidates for the remaining assembly constituency will also be announced in two-three days, he added.
Sharma is part of a combined committee of six members of the Alliance to complete the list of candidates.
BJP is likely to involve its candidate in almost 65 assembly constituencies, PLC in 38 and SAD (Sanyukt) in 14.
Sad President Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa said, “We will announce the first list tomorrow and the remaining candidates will be done immediately remember the criteria of victory .
“The BJP Central Election Committee meeting on Thursday discussed the list of candidates under the national presidential leadership of the JP Nadda Party.
The meeting was also virtually attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Others who are part of the meeting include Union Minister Amit Shah, Gajendra Singh Shekahwat, Hardeep Puri and Som Prakash, Punjab BJP President Ashwani Sharma and the National Secretary General of the Tarun Chugh Party.
Congress to discuss the 2nd List of tomorrow, the list of both Congress candidates for Punjab polls is likely to be taken by the Party Center Election Committee (CEC) on January 22.
The party has announced 86 of the 117 candidates.
Party Insiders said the screening committee had continued its recommendations to CEC.
Meanwhile, the party released a list of wise district observers in Punjab for the selection of assemblies.
BSP released a ‘official’ list of 14 Bahujan Samaj Party, which has announced all 20 candidates for the election of February 20, on Thursday “officially” released a list of 14 candidates.
