Chandigarh: KIN of 11 farmers who lost their lives as long as stirring against the Central Agriculture Law were given an appointment letter for government work in Punjab on Saturday.
Charanjit Minister Singh Channi and Agriculture and Minister of Welfare Minister Randeep Singh Nabha submitted the appointment letters as officers to the next Kin from the peasants who died, according to the official release here.
Calling the backbone farmer of the state’s economic structure, said the main minister, “the state government will always do every possible step to ensure the welfare of the victim’s family.” The state government has provided work to KIN from 157 farmers who died.
The previous state government has announced RS 5 Lakh as a financial assistance and work for one member of each farmer who died.
Farmers have claimed death of more than 700 farmers from Punjab, Haryana and other countries during agitation of agricultural laws which are now revoked.
