CHANDIGARH: The Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes, in its guidelines, has urged the Punjab government to recalculate reserve percent to the Scheduled Castes from the country based on their inhabitants.
She stated that booking hadn’t been assessed for the past 47 decades.
Tejinder Kaur, chairperson of the commission, stated previously also the proportion of reservation has been improved from time-to-time from the nation after analyzing the ratio of the SC population.
The chairperson included that Punjab government had mended 15% reserve for SCs from the country October19,1949.
This was raised to 19 percent on August 19, 1952, and to 20 percent on September 7, 1963.
Last time reserve was raised from 20 percent to 25 percent on June 6, 1974.
