PCB to spend RS 50L on the Shivaji market renovation

Pune: The Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) has given 50 lakh rs sanctions for the renovation of the Shivaji Market in its budget.
Seventeen fish shops and five chicken stores were destroyed in a broken fire on the market during early hours on March 14.
Since then Cantonment cannot improve the damaged nature due to lack of funds.
Amit Kumar, CEO of PCB, said, “We have made a budget provision for the job.
It has been forwarded to the President Director of the Southern command for approval.
After that, it will be submitted before the South Army Commander for final sanctions.” A team of engineers from the work department General, Pune Circle, has examined the damaged part and estimates repair costs at Rs 2.5 Crore.
Traders and vendors operating on the market agreed to pay rented rental contributions worth Rs 25 Lakh to the council at a meeting held on Thursday.
“Pune Cantonment Mla Suresh Kamble will contribute Rs 25 Lakh from funds for work.
Vendors have paid Rs 12.5 lakh contributions to us.
We have given them two weeks to pay the remaining amount,” Kumar said.
Manzoor Shaikh, President of the Shivaji Market Association, said, “We have urged all vendors and traders to clean up the fees at the beginning.”
