Pimpri Chinchwad: PCMC is set to buy medical equipment worth Rs 1 Crore to treat patients with mukormycosis.
The list of equipment includes a facial set with a full HD camera system (expected to cost 69 lakh Rs) and special exercises (costs around Rs 35 Lakh).
Equipment will be sent to the Yashwantrao Chavan (YCMH) Memorial Hospital, where patients with fungal infections are currently being treated.
The PCMC fixed committee has approved the purchase last week.
Rajendra Wabale, Dean YCMH, said the Civic Hospital has so far operated in more than 100 mucoricosis patients.
He said, “Some of the first operations are done using available equipment or demonstrations.
With this purchase, the treatment will get better.” Aniket Lathi, Professor and Head of the ENT department, said the equipment offered precision while operating in patients.
HD cameras will prove useful not only for mucormycosis patients, but also for patients with other ENT problems.
