New Delhi: The Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar on Wednesday held a single hour bilateral meeting with Chinese partner Wang Yi on the sidelines of the Shanghai cooperation organization meeting (SCO) in Dushan.
“The discussion focused on extraordinary problems along the LAC in the West,” Jaisankar said on Twitter.
“Highlighted that changes to unilateral status quo is not acceptable.
The recovery and maintenance of peace and peace in the border area is very important for the development of our bonds,” he added.
The minister of external affairs further said they both agreed to hold the initial meeting of the senior military commander.
Jaisankar and Wang have spoken twice this year – in February and April.
They discussed the status of the release of the LAC and the implementation of the Moscow agreement and also agreed to build a hotline for timely communication.
India has repeatedly emphasized on the need to apply the Moscow agreement that refers to the consensus of 5 points Jaisankar and Wang arrived last year, again on the SCO meeting margin, to resolve the border situation.
India and China completed the release in the Pangong Tso area in February this year but there was little progress in the remaining friction points.
While China continues to blame the accumulation of alleged Indian forces for LAC’s plus-off, India says Beijing’s violations of the bilateral agreement are reasons for border disputes.
